REPORT CARDS & CONFERENCES

Report cards are issued at the end of each quarter in grades one through eight.  Kindergarten students will receive a progress report at the end of the semester and end of the school year.  Report cards are to be signed by the parents and returned to the child’s teacher.  Report cards will not be issued at the end of the year if fees are due for damaged or lost books.

Academic grades are chiefly based on scholastic achievement as defined in St. Stephen’s School.  Behavior is evaluated separately, report cards, standard guide test scores, and a parent/teacher conference will provide parents with tangible evidence of the student progress.  Teachers will notify the parents if a student is doing poorly or if there is concern of failure in a particular area or subject. Parents are encouraged to schedule an appointment with the teacher if they have concerns.

At the end of the first quarter, parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for all families in the school.  Although the time given to individual conferences is, of necessity, short, the time is well spent.  Occasionally, a problem is discovered during the year which requires a more lengthy conference.  Individual conferences may be initiated at the request of a parent or teacher.
